Omnihility probably heard a lot of the Relapse Records catalog (especially from when they had inserts on the top of CD cases, with pictures of maybe eight albums, that made you think “I want all of these!” – remember those?!) Specifically, this Oregon four-piece heard a lot of Origin and Nile. Which brings up Biogenesis  – this is a delightfully over-the-top technical debut full-length that competes with the best, and calls to mind the finer (and heavier) points of Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas and Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka. Goshuggist’s Top 10 in 2012!


2012 was one hell of a year for Metal music. So much so that even listing off every amazing/top notch/legendary Death Metal album from last year is practically impossible, especially in a Top 10 list.  These 10 albums were chosen after much deliberation and part of that process was listening to so many phenomenal LPs that choosing 10 almost felt wrong. In the end though, these 10 albums have towered over everything else in technical death metal all year. These are the albums that redefined bands and bent genres and only one can be the very best. Goshuggist’s Top 5 Albums You May Have (Tragically) Overlooked In 2012

2012 has been one of the greatest years for Death Metal in the new millennium. Sadly, with so many amazing bands all releasing masterworks in one year, things can get rather cluttered for newer or even certain well established bands.
